World Health Organization and Let’s Eco recommend breastfeeding as the sole source of nutrition for infants from birth until 6 months of age and continuous breastfeeding up to 2 years of age. Breastfeeding ensures the right nutrition for the baby and facilitates the development of a positive connection between mother and child.

However, sometimes breastfeeding can be challenging and infant formula is then the only alternative source of nutrition to ensure the infant’s healthy growth and development. Be aware that introducing infant formula might decrease milk production and affect breastfeeding in general. Also, deciding to stop breastfeeding may be an irreversible choice. Always, discuss with health professionals before introducing infant formula.
